I was wondering if...: used if you want to bevery polite whenyou are asking someone to do something. 정중하게 무언가 부탁할 때 사용.

I was wondering if you could help me.

I was wondering if you had a minute. 시간 좀 내줄 수 있어요?

I was wondering if you could talk.

The books that we ordered had water damage.

Original: I'm not sure if I can afford to do the work. afford는 ~할 (물질적) 여유가 있다 일 때 쓰임. 

Better: I'm not sure if I'm able to do the work. or I'm not sure if I afford to buy the house.

 

Original: There is a rule to say no at least 3 times then I can receive the money.

Better: There is a rule that you say no at least 3 times before receiving money.
